He brings expertise in managing research and providing policy guidance on a range of economic issues. In this role, he collaborates with colleagues across government, academia and the private sector to deliver high quality labour market information.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to joining LMIC, he led the development and integration of housing price and macroeconomic stress test models for the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation. Other areas of research expertise include: climate change economics, analysis of the US pension and retirement system, and economic policy and geopolitical analysis affecting member countries of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly.<\/p>\n<p>Tony holds a PhD in Economics from the New School for Social Research, a Masters in International Political Economy from the Brussels School of International He start his career at Industry Canada in the Economic Research and Policy Analysis Branch working on topics such as productivity, competitiveness, science and technology, intangible and management practices. He was also a key contributor to the development of the Survey of Innovation and Business Strategy. Following his work at Industry Canada, he worked at the Bank of Canada in the Canadian Economic Analysis department, working on issues related to the labour market and inflation. His work also included analyzing longer terms trends such as population ageing, capital accumulation, and digitalization as well forecasting potential output. focused on Canada\u2019s value proposition for foreign investors in clean energy, hydrogen, and fuel cell sectors, and on ESG implications in diverse Canadian industrial ecosystems.<\/p>\n<p>Prior to this role, she worked at the C.D Howe Institute as a Research Analyst and completed internships programs in international organisations such as Action Against Hunger (in Lima, Peru), and the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) in their regional office in Washington, DC.<\/p>\n<p>Elodie holds a master\u2019s degree in Global Affairs and Environmental Studies from the University \u00e9conomiste principale \u00e0 la Banque de d\u00e9veloppement du Canada en 2007. \u00c0 ce titre, elle effectue des recherches et des analyses sur les tendances \u00e9conomiques qui touchent les petites et moyennes entreprises canadiennes, ainsi que sur les pratiques commerciales qui leur sont les plus avantageuses. Elle est l\u2019auteure de plusieurs \u00e9tudes publi\u00e9es par cette institution, notamment sur les fusions et acquisitions, la transition, la croissance, la productivit\u00e9 et la r\u00e9duction de l\u2019empreinte environnementale des entreprises.<\/p>\n<p>Avant de se joindre \u00e0 la BDC, Sylvie a travaill\u00e9 comme directrice de la recherche \u00e0 la F\u00e9d\u00e9ration canadienne de l\u2019entreprise ind\u00e9pendante. Elle a commenc\u00e9 sa carri\u00e8re au minist\u00e8re des Finances \u00e0 Ottawa. In this capacity, she is responsible for the strategic direction and management of the division, which includes providing rigorous and timely analysis of economic conditions in Canada and the United States as well as advice on current and prospective economic issues.
